I used mail preferences to edit the other accounts and now they all work! I wonder if Spectrum is rolling out the new mail system across the country at different times. I changed "Charter" to and then the send mail is working (for now). When outgoing mail fails, you have the option of selected a different server or editing the server list. This should cause an error and should display options to add the incoming and outgoing server name. Enter your Charter email address except for the last letter, for example, xyzcharter.ne. Open the Mail app and create a new account.
CHARTER SPECTRUM TV APP FOR MAC HIGH SIERRA PRO
Today when I ran through the automated process of adding a new account, the outgoing mail is populated with: I then deleted the username and password in outgoing mail and these revert "optional". I finally resolved the same issue with recently creating a new Charter email account on a MacBook Pro using High Sierra. This work fine for a few days and now I just spent two days to get the accounts to send mail. The final screen allows one to decide which programs will use the mail account. To get to the third screen (as the next button is greyed out) - I deleted the last letter of the email address and added it back in and I could get to the 3rd screen. The second screen was populated with information from the Spectrum server - incoming and outgoing mail set to: as per the website instructions. I deleted one account and added it back in which is an automated process. It is Octoand I began having problems with Spectrum mail - sending only in the last week. If there is a way to do this, I haven't been able to find it. The MacOS Mail app does not tell you what it is doing during the configuration phase, doesn't tell you why it failed and doesn't provide a way to specify ports and AUTH parameters. The IOS mail app appears to find these parameters properly but the MacOS Mail app does not.Ģ. Spectrum may be using an unusual combination of parameters for their IMAP/SMTP server. The combination shown below is working for me but I may play more with it.ġ. For SMTP authentication: plain, login, cram-md5 and digest-md5. In addition, it gave me the choices for IMAP authentication: none, plain, and cram-md5. I could now verify that the proper ports were being used (note that Spectrum is using SMTP port 587) and the right authentication (SSL). When it failed, some new configuration items appeared in the dialog (see image). However, during its attempt to connect, it tells you what port(s) and protocols it is trying to use.
At first, it also failed to establish a stable connection with the Spectrum server. I downloaded Airmail 3 from the app store which got good reviews. It was a learning experience if anyone else has this problem.
